Reviving Indigenous Voices of the Red Dirt: The Inspiring Journey of the Living First Language Platform

Child looking at digital device

At ALNF, we know that strong literacy in Indigenous First Language leads to a reinvigorated sense of community and identity and increased levels of cultural pride, self-esteem and empowerment. This in turn means better educational, employment and health outcomes for Indigenous communities across the nation.

Our ongoing commitment to the revitalisation of Indigenous First Languages has been brought to life through our multi award-winning Living First Language Platform, now in use across 19 Language Communities, the development of interactive digital literacy game apps for youth and community, and the creation of dynamic literacy and educational resources.

This vital work is a story of the endless possibilities that are nurtured by merging innovation, traditional knowledge, community leadership and technology.

So where did the inspiring story of the Living First Language Platform start?

And what impact, milestones and educational change has it helped bring about for First Nations communities?

Above all, why is it vital for any language revitalisation effort to be community-led to create real, sustainable impact?

Join Eric Brace, ALNF’s Director of First Languages & Digital Innovation, in conversation with Odeta Iseviciute on the Edge of Impact Podcast, as they explore these questions, and discuss the potential of community-driven technology to boldly reshape the way we educate our children in English and First Language.
